Homework1

1. Define Blog

A blog is an online journal sharing a persons, groups, companies thoughts, experiences, and anything and everything else. Combination of web and log = blog.

2. Search online for five different hosts available to you for free to host a blog.

3. What’s the difference between these? (at least three descriptive sentences on each one)
Blogger - Blogger is owned by Google and allows people to have their own voice online. All the information in the world is now available through peoples own personal perspective.

Twitter - a free social networking community. Some call tweets "Micro blogs." People can follow and be followed by anyone in the world. Tweets consists of anything from news media to ads and famous people's hourly updates to charity aids asking for help/updating on cures.

Facebook - a free social networking community. Anyone can join, but unlike twitter, people have to "confirm" a friend. Share thoughts, photos, updates with friends.

Myspace - a free social networking website. Hosts personal/business networking sites allowing photos, chats, profiles, blogs, groups, music, etc.

Linkedin a free social networking site oriented towards business people and their communities. A person can be recommended or search for contacts within one's profession.

WordPress - free blogging and basic content management application. You can make your blog personal by adding themes, widgets, photos and other images. "Takes seconds, costs nada."

TypePad is a paid blogging service. It is the largest paid blogging service in the world. You can make your blog personalized and connect with others by joining clubs and groups. You can also track your blogs stats.
